8ply/DK Yarns

Mother’s Love DK
80% superwash merino, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon
100gm/211m (231yd)
DK/8ply weight, 4-ply construction

Warm, soft and squishy, this yarn is like a big love-filled hug. Merino is well known for its softness and warmth, the cashmere provides extra softness, and the nylon provides strength. This is the DK/8ply weight of Mother’s Love. The moderate twist means good stitch definition. One skein of yarn is enough for a thick pair of women’s medium socks, gloves or mittens, hat or a small scarf. Care: Machine washable.

Nuzzle
40% baby alpaca, 40% merino, 20% silk
100gm/230m (252yd)
DK/8ply weight, single ply construction

Silky and warm with a subtle halo, this yarn is similar to a popular colourful Japanese yarn and almost twice the length, whilst feeling softer and with less variation in yarn thickness. Nuzzle longs to be next to the skin where you can bury your face in it. Baby alpaca and merino both provide softness and warmth, whilst the silk provides strength and a subtle glow. One skein of yarn is enough for a pair of women’s gloves or mittens, a hat or a small scarf/cowl. Care: Hand wash only. This yarn will felt if washed in hot water and/or with agitation.

Silken Sheath
58% Australian superwash merino, 42% silk
100gm/230m (252yd)
DK/8ply weight, single ply construction

With a silken glow shining through a soft halo, this yarn feels wonderful to wear next to the skin. The dyes appear almost metallic on this yarn. The slight slubbiness due to the single ply construction adds textural interest. Merino wool is well known for its warmth and elasticity, whilst the silk provides strength and shine. One skein of yarn is enough for a small to medium shawl/wrap or a hat. Care: Hand wash only. Please note: the construction process of this yarn requires a knot or two in the skein, however they are easily spliced/felted to create an invisible join.

White Gum Wool DK
100% ethical superfine merino
100gm/236m (258yd)
200gm/472m (516yd)
DK/8ply weight, 4-ply construction

White Gum Wool is ethically grown superfine merino wool from the High Midlands of Tasmania. The sheep graze in their family groups on chemical-free native pastures, and are never mulesed, so they wag their (undocked) tails behind them! Merino wool is well known for its warmth and elasticity, and this yarn is super soft (think squishy!). The moderate twist means good stitch definition, and being non-superwash it will felt (with a bit of effort). One generous 100g skein of yarn is enough for a luxury gloves/mittens, a small shawl/cowl, or a toddler’s top. Care: Hand wash only.
